Boss Rush: Episode 7

The crew is back together to chat about games, as well as raise awareness and funds for Extra Life! Games we cover on the show include Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mega Man 11, Starlink: Battle for Atlas, Lego City Undercover, Street Fighter: The Movie – The Game, Mad Max, Hollow Knight, and Octopath Traveler! Also, the final segment pits the guys in a new game where they must guess the Metacritic user score! Do you have a better read of the Metacritic user base than Jason, Mat, and Jon? Play along to find out!

Whether you want to watch the whole episode in one shot, or watch it in parts, both options are available above!

Observations Regarding the Streaming Experience

It’s been a bit over a year since I began this journey into the world of live streaming. It has been a very bumpy road filled with technical hiccups, dead air, and a strong sense of doubt for whether I should even pursue this avenue at all. However, the lessons I’ve learned throughout this process has helped improve my output while better setting myself up for the future. Also hoping to have entertained you along the way! Here are a few things I’ve noted during my time as a streamer that maybe could be of value to you.

In Third Person is Streaming for Extra Life!

As of last night, select streams will be in service of Extra Life. Best known as an annual 24-hour gaming marathon – taking place this year on Saturday, November 3rd – I will be collecting donations through my streams leading up to the big day. And yes, my friends, family, and I will be broadcasting a 24-hour gaming marathon of our own on twitch.tv/inthirdperson!

100% of the proceeds go to the Children’s Miracle Network of Hospitals, who provide 32 million treatments to children each year in the United States and Canada. I generally donate to my local Sick Kids Hospital when I can, but this is an opportunity to use this platform to help raise awareness and provide resources for children that need it most on a scale that I can’t reach alone.

Let’s work together on this! When you get a chance, please make a donation to Extra Life. I’ll do my part in raising awareness through the stream, continuing tonight with the latest episode of Boss Rush! I hope we all have a great time gaming for a cause right up to the big 24-hour gaming marathon and beyond!

Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King Review

Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King is clearly a riff on The Legend of Zelda formula. But is that a bad thing? Some may write the game off as a clone at first glance due to its striking similarities with A Link to the Past. However, in a world where Super Mario Bros. and Metroid have had their formulas iterated on thousands of times over by game creators the world over, the Zelda formula seems like largely-uncharted territory by comparison. On top of that, if the derivative game is good based on its own merits, is there really a problem? Blossom Tales wears its influences on its sleeve, but it also tries its best to provide a worthwhile experience while adding its own spin to the mix.

I Need a Hero (Shooter)

Not long after the game’s launch in 2016, I bought Overwatch out of curiosity. It was the biggest game in the world at that point and I wanted to see what the hype was about. As much as I enjoyed it back then, it quickly fell out of my rotation, as I was still investing most of my competitive gaming time into Street Fighter V, and just starting to ramp up my obsession with Pokemon Go. Despite my own pressure and poking from myself and others to get back into it, the game collected dust on my shelf.

Inspired by the recent release of Paladins on the Nintendo Switch, I’ve found myself falling in love with the hero shooter genre as a whole in a big way.
