The Closing of Telltale Games

Pioneers of the modern adventure game genre and makers of one of my all-time favourite titles is no more. Hours before we got official word from the studio, news spread like wildfire of the company’s demise. Before they can even put the finishing touches on the final season of The Walking Dead, the company let go of hundreds of employees and is no longer in a position to finish any of their existing work. My heart hurts at the thought of all of those negatively affected by this news, as well as the thought that the story of Clementine will never be completed. [UPDATE: “Potential Partners” might finish the season after all]

Time for…Peter Parker to solve pipe puzzles? Once I awkwardly get past the mini games, it’s back to cleaning up the streets of New York in Spider-Man on the PS4!

Sombra in Action! Jett Plays Overwatch

D.Va is forever my Overwatch bae, but I’m continuing to expand my horizons to see what works for me from a gameplay perspective! This time, I put an extended period of time into Sombra! I like her rapid-fire sub-machine gun, as well as the way she can undermine her opponents’ tactics with her hacking ability! My Mercy also makes a cameo appearance in what I thought was an inspired performance!

Hollow Knight Review

Throughout the course of my history as a gamer, there are two game franchises that are my kryptonite: Dark Souls and Metroid. The former brutalized me with its unforgiving combat and its need for players to really study the nuances of it all in order to scrape by. The latter exploits my inability to memorize directions. To this day, I’ve still never beaten a Metroid game for that reason, even though I own most of them.

Hollow Knight is the twisted child of those games mashed together. With a labyrinthian cave to explore with limited navigation guides, methodical combat that will punish button-mashing, and a limited save system that will regularly cause you to lose many minutes of play by virtue of not being able to locate the next save point in time, I initially had no plans to play this one at all. Never say never I guess, as the rave reviews and a sizable discount inspired me to give this one a go.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes Impressions

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is a cheeky take on one of the most horrifying tasks one can perform. Acer Predator Thronos and my Frivolous Gaming-Related Purchases

At IFA 2018, Acer revealed what might be the most insane gaming chair of all-time. The Predator Thronos is an elaborate gaming chair that supports up to three 27″ monitors, has a kick-out leg rest, lights, vibrates along with the games, and is motorized so that the whole apparatus can rotate 140 degrees if you feel like playing while lying down. Before we even talk about the chair’s weight (400lbs!) or its price tag ($1,399 USD!!!), the very conceit of this chair is certainly above and beyond a more “reasonable” gaming expense.

I may not have spent $1,400 on a chair, but I have spent my money on gaming-related items that were frivolous in nature. Here are a few of them!

Road to the Colosseum of Fools! More Hollow Knight Action!

A confusing climb to the top led me to a deadly gauntlet! Do I have what it takes to eek by the first challenge in the Colosseum of Fools? About 11 hours in and I’m still liking Hollow Knight a lot! Even in moments when it crushes my soul like this one 😦
