One of the weird quirks I’m still wrestling with when it comes to PC gaming is switching between monitors. Most games by default open on the main monitor, which isn’t actually what I want. The only game I’ve been able to get to open on the right screen by default is Overwatch. Everything else requires some noodling in the settings before I start.
Even so, switching monitors shouldn’t be that big of a deal, right? Unfortunately, the situation proved a bit hairier with Rogue Company.
Having played Rogue Company on console for many months now, I think I’m finally ready to compete on PC! I talk through some of my reasoning for moving to PC and some of the struggles I’ve run into along the way. Also, we get in a few matches with Kestral and Dima!

For most of my life, I have actively avoided PC gaming. I was scarred by bad experiences in the early 90s such as that time when my underpowered 386 couldn’t run Doom at all. Furthermore, I didn’t have the resources to spend thousands on a rig capable of playing modern games.
I’m only in a position now where I can play on PC by virtue of my streaming hobby. Sorely in need of a PC capable of handling my streaming and video editing needs, it just so happens that a video production PC can double as a solid gaming PC.
A few months into my PC journey, here’s how things are going thus far.
During the last Guilty Gear -Strive- beta, I flagged a number of major complaints with the game’s online experience.
The beta was wildly unstable. Outages happened for hours at a time, leaving many anxious fans out in the cold.
The Habbo Hotel inspired lobby system was an absolutely horrible way of connecting with other players.
Combat was driven by inferior delay-based netcode. Fights suffered from inputs getting delayed, which compromised the integrity of battle.
This time around, things are…different.
The beta is again, wildly unstable. Arc System Works extended the beta to compensate for lost time.
Despite overwhelming negative feedback from the community regarding the Hobbo Hotel style lobby system, Arc System Works kept it in the game. At least you can matchmake through training mode in the beta.
Delay-based netcode was replaced with rollback netcode. And…
Matchmaking keeps pairing me up with a specific Ken player and I struggle mightily to defeat him across multiple sets. Do I manage to finally take this demon down? We also run a little Street Fighter 101 and teach the value of normal moves!
