Street Fighter V: Devour Hour

When it comes to Street Fighter games, I’m no stranger to exploring the character select screen. While Rashid continues to be my main character in Street Fighter V, I’ve been spending a lot of time lately with Necalli. This ancient warrior who has the power to turn Super Saiyan immediately caught my attention with his animalistic fighting style. He’s not just cool looks though, as I’ve discovered that he’s a capable combatant that can shred his opposition to bits.

Jett Plays Street Fighter V Beta Part 4: Ryu

One last video from the first round of the beta. I go all-in with my Ryu, which was certainly better than it was on day one.

Out Today: Street Fighter V Beta

The wait to dive into this Street Fighter V beta is almost over! Scheduled to open at 9PM EST today, I will be all over it. Besides taking it in for myself, I’ll try my best to capture video and impressions. Maybe even a combo video or two if the game allows for it?

If you’re interested in getting in the beta, I don’t think it’s too late. At the very least, you can pre-order the game through PSN and immediately download the beta client. Let the new era of butt-kicking begin!

Brand New Character Named Necalli Revealed in Street Fighter V

At the Evolution Championship Series tournament, Capcom revealed the first original character for Street Fighter V. Named Necalli, which means battle in Aztec, he appears to be a very violent warrior with an almost animalistic approach to combat. So far, I’m thrilled with what Capcom has shown so far.

Throwing down in the latest version of Ultra Street Fighter IV. While I battle, I talk about the horrible PS4 launch and thoughts on the recently revealed gameplay systems of Street Fighter V!

Ultra Suck Fighter IV: PlayStation 4 Edition

In its current state, Ultra Street Fighter IV on the PlayStation 4 sucks. I personally haven’t run into the more egregious stuff that some people have reported, but what I have seen is inexcusable. Sluggish menus. Online UI all out of place so that usernames cut off. Audio out of sync or cutting off. Decapre’s Scramble move running at a slower speed and traveling a shorter distance. Worst of all is the input lag. For a system with this level of horsepower, it’s inexcusable that it actually runs worse than both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions. Three frames may not sound like a lot, but when many combos have timing windows that are 1 or 2 frames, it’s actually really hard to adjust if you’ve played this game elsewhere.

All things considered, the current state of Ultra Street Fighter IV on PlayStation 4 is baffling. This is pretty much worse in every way compared to its last gen brethren. Capcom, Sony and Other Ocean should be embarrassed for letting this half-baked port of an old game out the door in this condition. Until this is patched to fix all of these issues, don’t buy this.

Capturing PlayStation 4 Gameplay

photo 3(2)

I’m still just getting my feet wet with the whole game capture thing, but I’m already thinking ahead to capturing PlayStation 4 content. As of writing, the PlayStation 4 currently doesn’t support capture through a device such as the Elgato Game Capture HD due to its built-in HDCP. However, through some research and a few extra bucks, I could be capturing PlayStation 4 video today.

Skylanders: Swap Force Review

The Skylanders franchise fell victim to the sophomore jinx.  Skylanders Giants failed to address the issues of its predecessor while its biggest innovation was a boring character class that actually made the game less fun and more difficult to play. Clearly having learned its lesson, the Skylanders are back in their best adventure yet.

Contrast Impressions

One of the first products to come out as part of the PlayStation 4’s big indie push is Contrast. Created by Compulsion Games, this is a puzzle platformer that forces you to think of shadows in a different light (no pun intended). While it definitely looks cool and has an interesting gameplay hook on paper, some glaring production issues put me off fairly quickly.

Call of Duty: Ghosts Review

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was a bit of a write-off. Sure, it sucks that we as gamers got a sub-par experience due to the turmoil between Activision and former studio heads at Infinity Ward, but there’s nothing anyone can do about that now. With Ghosts, now is an opportune time to make good on their last misstep while proving that they can continue to deliver the goods even without many of the staff that originally established the franchise. On one hand, I think they’ve done just that by providing an experience that is on par with their past efforts. However, the innovations we saw in Black Ops II are sorely absent here, while Infinity Ward’s new ideas do little to liven up a stagnant formula.
