As November draws near, the hype for new consoles is hitting a fever pitch. I can’t wait to get my hands on my PlayStation 5 next month and experience the next generation of gaming.
All of this excitement got me thinking about my past experiences with new hardware. In particular, the games I got with each new toy. To the best of my memory, here’s

Though the game was first released in 2018, Among Us has really blown up in 2020. A sizable chunk of that credit goes to streamers who have help to spread the word about its existence. But beyond simply showcasing the game, they’ve also showcased the best (and most difficult) way to play. I get the sense that most players are having a considerably worse experience than their favourite streamers.
Though Hi-Rez Studios has been around for decades, they didn’t really grab my attention until I tried Paladins on the Nintendo Switch. During a time when Blizzard’s hero shooter wasn’t on the platform, Paladins served as a solid free-to-play alternative. Even now, some may choose to play Paladins over Overwatch on Switch due to the former running at a butter 60 frames per second while the latter can struggle maintaining 30.
The studio’s latest free-to-play game is Rogue Company. This time, it’s a team-based third-person shooter where dueling mercenary groups attempt to complete their objects. Does it do enough to stand out in a saturated shooter market?

“This game is missing…something.”
Speaking with my brother over Discord as we were playing Rogue Company, we were struggling to find the enjoyment out of this tactical shooter developed by Hi-Rez Studios. Hours of play in the game’s more competitive-focused Demolition and Extraction modes, we took great issue with the pace of play.
Almost ready to give up on the game entirely, we tried out the game’s final mode: Strikeout. After an hour or so of competing in this mode, we almost did a complete about face on the entire game.
You may kiss! And just like that, Jettt and Abigail are bound together in holy matrimony. Along the way, we discuss many wedding-related topics, including my idea for Steff and I to renew our vows at an official Taco Bell wedding!
The Stardew Valley series is officially over. Thank you to everyone who enjoyed this journey at any point! Though now is a great time to take an extended break from a game we’ve been streaming for the past seven months (!), I wouldn’t count out a return to the valley at some point in the future. Stay tuned!
