Shadow of the Tomb Raider Review

Modern Tomb Raider has been one of my favourite franchises of the past few years, but there are aspects of its first two games that prevented them from being universally celebrated. The first was a commercial hit and a game I enjoyed a lot, but it also leaned a bit too heavily on the Uncharted playbook. I felt that the sequel took the right steps towards bringing the game back towards its roots, but it was still a bit too heavy on the gun play and the game was largely overlooked due to it being a timed Xbox One exclusive.Β Third time’s a charm? Shadow of the Tomb Raider closes out this era of Lara Croft with an adventure that is as high stakes as it gets.

Rocket League Goes Cross-Platform!

Fortnite opened the doors for cross-platform play in 2018. Now it’s Rocket League‘s turn. Psyonix announced today that their amazing car soccer game is playable across any combination of Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch players! Up until now, PlayStation 4 was segregated from the others.

Really hoping that all multiplayer games going forward are cross-compatible. At this point, its been proven to work on a technical level. It’s only been businesses protecting their best interests that have kept the gates up for so long. This is a great step forward and I hope we get more news like this in 2019! In particular, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Overwatch to make the leap!

Shadow of the Tomb Raider – Church of San Juan

Lara and Jonah find themselves deep underground as Shadow of the Tomb Raider takes a religious turn. I really should have paid more attention to the pamphlet or paid more attention in church to solve these Jesus-related puzzles!

Games I’m Excited For in 2019

Another exciting year of gaming lies ahead! With the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at a mature point in their lifespan, and rumors of their successors looming, this could be the last hurrah for our current gen hardware. Also, with the Nintendo Switch just having gotten Pokemon and Super Smash Bros., where does the platform go from here?

Lots of questions to be answered in the days to come. For now though, here’s a handful of games that I’m looking forward to playing this year!
