First look at Dark Souls on the Switch thanks to the network test! Unfortunately, I can’t show you much of the beta because I’m AWFUL at the game. If you want to watch me die repeatedly in the first section of the demo, be my guest!

Hollow Knight Review
Throughout the course of my history as a gamer, there are two game franchises that are my kryptonite: Dark Souls and Metroid. The former brutalized me with its unforgiving combat and its need for players to really study the nuances of it all in order to scrape by. The latter exploits my inability to memorize directions. To this day, I’ve still never beaten a Metroid game for that reason, even though I own most of them.
Hollow Knight is the twisted child of those games mashed together. With a labyrinthian cave to explore with limited navigation guides, methodical combat that will punish button-mashing, and a limited save system that will regularly cause you to lose many minutes of play by virtue of not being able to locate the next save point in time, I initially had no plans to play this one at all. Never say never I guess, as the rave reviews and a sizable discount inspired me to give this one a go.
Close Call! My #2 Ranked June in Action!
It’s been hard to get any Pocket Rumble matches going with the player base thinning out, but I squeezed in a few games against a tough Parker player!
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes Impressions
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is a cheeky take on one of the most horrifying tasks one can perform. With the aid of a few friends an a 23-page manual that exists outside of the game, you’re tasked with diffusing every bomb placed in front of you. Can you all keep your cool under pressure and solve each ticking time bomb before they blow up in your face?
Jason Makes His Paladins Debut!
Jason is an avid Overwatch fan, but he steps out of his comfort zone to try out Paladins with my brother Randy and I! Besides teaching Jason the ropes, we talk about some of the games Jason is selling on eBay, the Apple Conference that took place today, Nintendo Direct predictions, and an appearance in the chat from Extra Life Toronto!
Brothers of the Realm! Jett and Randy Play Paladins!
Randy and I reunite in the world of Paladins for the first time since the Dragon’s Call update! We play one game of that before going back to the standard modes. During the show, we discuss Paladins vs. Overwatch, how Dragon’s Call is busted, the sad state of Pocket Rumble, why Jett doesn’t play PC games, and more! Also, their parents make a cameo appearance off-camera as they try and coordinate a family lunch outing!
Road to the Colosseum of Fools! More Hollow Knight Action!
A confusing climb to the top led me to a deadly gauntlet! Do I have what it takes to eek by the first challenge in the Colosseum of Fools? About 11 hours in and I’m still liking Hollow Knight a lot! Even in moments when it crushes my soul like this one 😦
The Bottoming Out of Pocket Rumble
Pocket Rumble was never going to usurp the likes of Street Fighter V or Tekken 7 at the top of the fighting game throne. However, I truly feel like the game had a chance to be bigger than it is today. The game had a lot of positive buzz when it was announced as a console exclusive for the Nintendo Switch a year ago. Nowadays, the game has been largely left behind by almost everyone that ever had any interest in it.
Roughly two months after launch, the game has fallen out of the Nintendo eShop top 30, the online leaderboards have tapped out around 10,000 players, and my recent online sessions felt like there were only a handful of people in the world still playing it. Despite how much I enjoy playing it, I’m reluctant to stream it anymore, as I tend to run into the same players repeatedly because they’re seemingly the only ones online with me.
What went wrong? And is there any way to get the game’s momentum back?
My Struggle with Smash Bros.
I used to love playing the Smash Bros. series of games. However, a long hiatus and a developed skill-set in traditional fighting games really warped my approach to Smash to the point where I struggle to play it and enjoy it at any level. Will be picking up Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in December though, so maybe that one will be the game that gets me back on the wagon!
