Cocktail Party Card Game Review

Confession: I don’t drink alcoholic beverages. Never have. At this rate, I may never take a sip. Though I take no issue with others doing so, I’ve chosen not to for personal reasons.

But for personal reasons, I also chose to buy and play the Cocktail Party card game. From what I could glean from the back of the box, it seemed to play like a number of other games I’ve enjoyed in the past. Didn’t hurt that it was also dirt cheap at HomeSense. Will this game lift up your spirits?

Trying to Retain My Old Ranking in Street Fighter V is Killing Me

When I left Street Fighter V behind, I was an Ultra Platinum ranked player. While not the highest possible rank one can attain, it’s one of the higher ranks in the game. Based on the distribution of players as of last year, that would have put me within the top 2.5% of all players. Not too shabby!

After taking a multi-year hiatus, I’m kind of back. Been putting in some time with the PC version and really enjoying what the game has finally grown into. However, one particular aspect of the experience is driving me nuts: my struggle to regain my old ranking.

Pokemon Snap Review

Before photo mode in video games, Pokemon Snap was Photo Mode: The Video Game. Putting you behind the camera of a professional pokemon photographer, your goal is to take candid snapshots of these creatures in order to help Professor Oak with his research. Decades later, this Nintendo 64 game still holds a special place in many players’ hearts.

With a sequel just months away from release, Steff and I finally took the time to complete Pokemon Snap once and for all. Is this cult-hit spin-off still picture perfect?

Add the Twitch Chat and Event List in OBS the Easy Way

One of the big criticisms levied at OBS versus other broadcast software is that it doesn’t have the chat and event list built in. Having to look at different windows to see all of the information you need as a streamer is a nightmare, which oftentimes drives users to alternatives.

Some go to Streamlabs OBS, which does offer these features, as well as direct integration with Streamlabs alerts and overlays. While this is more than enough for some, its walled-garden approach gives it a much lower ceiling from a technical perspective if you really want to push your streams to the limit. I used to use StreamElements OBS Live, but recent hiccups in the software would cause my OBS to crash on start-up. Uninstalling it did the trick and I’ll never recommend it again.

So what does one do now? Well, there’s actually a very easy trick to add your chat, event lists, stats, or anything you can see in a web browser inside OBS! Best of all, you don’t need to install any intrusive software to make this work!

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury Review

One of the last great games stranded on the Wii U, Super Mario 3D World finally makes the jump to the Nintendo Switch. As with other Nintendo has included some extras to sweeten the deal. This time, we’re getting online multiplayer, a small chunk of new content that plays wildly different from the main game, and more.

Even with the added extras, is Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury worth picking up, especially if you’re one of the few who bought it on the Wii U?

A Nod to Hi-Rez Studios

From MOBAs, to shooters, to battle royales, Hi-Rez Studios makes games in some of the most popular and crowded genres out there. Even though they’re a much smaller studio compared to their monolithic rivals like Tencent and Blizzard, they’ve managed to find a way to punch above their weight.

They’ve also won me over as a fan of their work.
