Check Out My Mark of the Ninja Review on Splitkick

Released outside of the regular XBOX Live Arcade schedule, and with virtually no marketing, Mark of the Ninja was the talk of the town for a total of one day when the glowing launch-day reviews hit. If it weren’t for those, I wouldn’t have even know this game existed.

I’m so glad to have played it, because it is fantastic. As a guy who hates stealth games, that says a whole lot.

Street Fighter X Tekken Mobile Review

Capcom’s track record with porting their fighting games to mobile devices are hit-and-miss. While their work with the Street Fighter IV series set the standard, their ports of classic fighters have been mediocre to poor. What sets those apart is that Capcom really took the time to optimize Street Fighter IV for mobile, while the rest are simply shoehorned in. Thankfully, Street Fighter X Tekken Mobile is not an example of the latter.

To Buy or Not to Buy: Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Set

I have a hard time abstaining from purchasing items with the Street Fighter name on them. I’ve bought figurines, t-shirts, posters, fightsticks, and over 20 Street Fighter games – including Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight. I’ve always joked with my girlfriend that if Capcom released Street Fighter branded rocks, I’d probably buy those too. As a life-long fanboy of the franchise, the purchase of Street Fighter merchandise rarely gives me pause.

But then I saw the gargantuan Street Fighter 25th Anniversary set.

Asura’s Wrath Review

Asura’s Wrath suffers from a problem that exists outside of the game itself. It’s a problem that has divided the critics. A problem that factored into the game’s poor sales. A problem that Capcom probably could have addressed with better marketing. Granted, this was never expected to sell like Call of Duty, but I feel like Capcom did this game a disservice by not emphasizing the game’s biggest strength…which is also its biggest weakness.

The Walking Dead Episode 3: The Long Road Ahead

The Walking Dead series has been my biggest surprise of 2012. Going into it with no real interest in the franchise, or adventure games, its first two instalments have taken me on an emotional roller coaster unlike any other game has before. Based on what I’d seen of the trailer for The Long Road Ahead, I had concerns that the base premise wouldn’t be as interesting as the one in episode 2. However, all my fears were quickly quashed as revelation after revelation took place.

Toronto Top Tiers Announces T13: Toronto Championship Series

Toronto Top Tiers – organizers behind T12, and Toryuken – are back! A few days ago, they announced the that they will be hosting T13, Toronto’s second major fighting game tournament of 2012; set to take place in October. This year, they’re planning on running 13(!) different games, which would make it the biggest tournament lineup I’ve ever seen. The Walking Dead Episode 2: Starved for Help Review

Episode 2 of The Walking Dead video game series picks up three months after the events of the first. Having found temporary solace in a run-down motel, Lee and his group of survivors find themselves facing off against a new threat: hunger. With tensions running high, and supplies running low, a pair of potential guardian angels appear. In exchange for some fuel, this duo of survivors are willing to provide your group with shelter, and rations from their supposedly large supply. Could this be too good to be true?

Universal Fighting Game Guide: Meter Management


Back in the old days of fighting games, you only had to worry about one meter: the life meter. As long as that meter didn’t run out, you were golden. However, as the genre progressed, so to did the number of meters you were required to manage. Today, almost every fighting game has some sort of super/EX/resource meter that grants you additional moves at the cost of the resources in your meter. Check Out My Persona 4 Arena Review on Splitkick.com

Arc System Works, and Atlus are poised to take the fighting game community by storm with their fighting game spin-off of the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona franchise. Persona 4 Arena has already built up a ton of buzz in the community, and it would  not surprise me in the least to see this game become a tournament staple over the next few months.

As someone who has 0 interest in the RPG, and as someone who has a history of sucking at Arc System Works’ previous fighting game efforts, I approached Persona 4 Arena with a bit of caution.
