The Best Games Starring Yoshi

Mario’s dinosaur friend makes appearances in a plethora of fantastic games. As a solo star, Yoshi’s output is…a mixed bag. A slew of mediocre puzzle games, one-off ideas, and a disappointing collection of platformers makes up the majority of the library.

Though Yoshi could be used better, there are a some real gems in the catalogue. Here are my picks for best Yoshi games!

6 Games to Play in My Backlog if I Ever Stop Playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons

As soon as I pay off the final installment of my mortgage, I think I can finally ease off of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Sure, there’s still my house and a whole island to decorate. I also have no plans on exiting the turnip market. However, I can probably let go of my daily runs for fish, bugs, and wood.

What’s next on the queue? Not exactly sure, but I’ve got a bunch of games to work with!

Envisioning Overwatch Characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Tracer, Doomfist, D. Va, and Ashe

The creators of Overwatch want their characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. For a fighting game franchise built around assembling the biggest and brightest stars in gaming, they’re a fantastic fit! Also, with Blizzard’s hero shooter out on the Nintendo Switch and a second season of DLC characters slated for Ultimate, the crossover isn’t entirely out of the realm of possibility.

That being said, Nintendo would be tasked with translating characters designed for a first-person shooter into a 2D platform fighter. I may not have a shred of Sakurai’s design talent, but I’m gonna try to make these characters work anyway! Not sure if this will be an ongoing series, but let’s start things off with Tracer, Doomfist, D. Va, and Ashe!

I Finally Played Metal Gear Solid for the First Time

Widely considered to be one of the best and most influential games of all-time, Metal Gear Solid is a game I’ve been actively dodging for most of my life. Part of that stems from an anti-Sony bias that formed in the 90s that I’ve since shedded. Part of it came from being a stealth game. I hate stealth games with a passion (with one beautiful exception). Even when I bought a copy of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for under $10, I ended up selling it later on without ever playing it.

At long last, during a random PlayStation Classic stream, I did the thing. By the end of it, I wasn’t quite sure of what to do with this newfound knowledge.
